Named from Corfu born Architect John D. Collas (1901-1993), son of Demetrios Collas, the then (1899-1911) Mayor of Corfu. John Collas studied in Milan and Rome Architecture and Town planning graduating in 1926, and was for many years after the War head of Corfu’s Town Planning department. After he retired, in the ‘60ies, he opened his own private office in this place, while the family apartment was and still is on the 3rd floor. He had inherited his mother’s artistic talent and had himself a fine hand in sketching and painting, and also was a first-class photographer.
Our captivating new ground floor “Collas” suite, gets its name from a prestigious Corfu family, whose descendants include both a Mayor and one of Corfu’s eminent Town Planners.
